Yours & Mine~~~
Oh God
please forgive me my sins
before I am swallowed by tomorrow.
Oh God!
please give me the tools
to distinguish right from wrong.
Oh God
grant me the strength to act,
the humility to know what I lack,
& the humor
to love everyone’s shortcomings—
to make of them
something
appreciated & detached.
Oh God!
allow me the power
to see beyond ignorance—
love,
to keep on climbing even when
I want to lie down,
& say, no more understanding—
what’s in it for me?
Oh God,
proffer me the self-knowledge
to never judge myself,
or be shaken by attack.
Permit me the truth
to keep giving empathy to others
even when they think I’m a fool,
& say, “who are you kidding?
Everyone is selfish.”
That’s when I need You most,
to step beyond myself,
praying, “Grant them their need,
O Lord. O Lord, my constancy.”
Oh God
please forgive me my sins
before I am swallowed by tomorrow.
